About Fairway Solitaire

The gameplay

Fairway Solitaire is a fantastic combination of solitaire and golf. In this game, your objective is to remove as many cards from the tableau as possible.

The rule of this game is super simple. Just move all cards on the tableau to the discard pile. The card you want to move must be one higher or one lower in rank than the top card of the discard pile, ignoring their suits and colours. Whenever you are unable to continue, you can flip a card in the stockpile. If you want to reverse your move, click the Undo button next to the discard pile. Keep in mind that you can undo your move only one time after each move. When there is no more possible move left and the stockpile runs out of cards, you need to press an End Hole button to end the game.

Special cards in the game

This game offers some special cards that assist you a lot as the game progresses. Each special card features a different function. Here’s the list of special cards you can use.

  • Wild Cards: This card offers you random events that can have either a positive or negative outcome. For example, if you get a Perfect, you will win the game automatically. If you get a Bad Bounce,  you will lose one card from the stock. If you get a Sympathetic Official, you are allowed to remove any face-up cards on the tableau by clicking them.
  • Iron Cards: Grey-shaded cards with a specific number going from 2 to 9 are iron cards. They can be removed from the table at any time. After clicking on them, the pictured golf clubs will be added to your stock of golf clubs next to the discard pile. Whenever you are stuck, you can choose a golf club. The chosen golf club will transform into a card and be moved to the discard pile.
  • Golden Cards. The golden card allows you to match any card with it.
  • Grass Traps: The grass-filled card will remove one card from the discard pile.
  • Water Hazards: The blue-shaded cards are the key to the locked cards. Therefore, you need to remove them from the table as soon as possible to unlock a pile of cards at the right of the screen.

Scoring

On the top left of the screen, you can see the number of cards you’re expected to eliminate. Your objective is to remove more cards than the allotted number of cards. After you end a hole, your score is the number of removed cards minus the allotted number of cards. Note that the maximum score in the game is -5. Contrarily, the minimum score is +5.

For each course, your score is the total of all points of all holes. If your score is equal to or lower than the Par score, you will win and the next course is unlocked.

Levels in the game

This game has 9 courses with an increasing degree of difficulty. Each course has 3 or 6 holes that you have to complete. Do your best to accomplish all courses and gain 3 stars in each course.
